Youth Summer Reading 2026
Summer Reading Kick Off: 06/06/2026, Summer Reading End Celebration: 08/01/2026
Youth ages 0-11-Kids read books to win great prizes all summer long. Create an account on pontiac.beanstack.org or sign in if you have one already.
Rules:
1. During Summer Reading (June 6 – August 1), read up to three books you have not read before. The books can be graphic novels or chapter books for kids (aged 7-11). Books can be read with a parent (ages 0-6), but then you need to read five books.
2. Log your books on your list (given at registration June 6 or from Librarian Kellie). Turn it in to the librarian for a prize (snacks or small rewards) plus an entry for a bigger prize!
3. You will get one raffle ticket per 3 books you have read (no limit!). You can also earn tickets by visiting the library, attending an event, or participating in a program. Be sure to get your ticket from the librarian!
4. At our Summer Reading End Celebration on August 1st, you will participate in a kids’ raffle drawing. One raffle ticket will be pulled to win the grand prize: a $50 Meijer gift card.
5. You must be present during the raffle to win. The raffle will take place at 2pm.
6. Eligible participants must have a library card or be able to get one on the day of the raffle (August 1).

Youth Study Skills
Thursdays (except from when the library is closed), 4:30-5:30pm, Youth Room: Meeting weekly-The program includes different topics through which kids 5yo and up learn important skills.

Book2Movie Club
Saturday, 04/25, 05/23, 11am-2pm, 06/20 (Dog-Man), 07/18 (The Bad Guys), 08/29 (The One And Only Ivan), 1:30-3:30pm, Youth Room: Get the book, read it, watch the movie here, and compare the two. Get your book at the library. Ages 8-12. Registration is not required!
Youth Reader Ready
Mondays, 4/27, 5/18, 10:30-11:15am, and every Monday June-August, 10-10:45am, Youth Room: Ages 2-6. Youth Walkers and older listen to stories and play to build literacy skills. Registration is not required!
Younger Youth Storytime
Mondays, 05/04, 10:30-11:15am and June through August, 11-11:45am, Youth Room: Younger Youth Ages 0-5 listen to stories and do movement activities like dancing. Registration is not required!
Youth Story Time
Tuesday, 05/05, 10:30-11:15am, Youth Room: A new weekly program for those who can already walk. We will read stories, do movement activities, sing songs, and have fun! Age Group: Walkers (age 2+). Registration is not required!
Youth Lego Night
Tuesday 5/5, 6/2, 6/23, 7/14, 8/4, 8/25, 5:30-6;15pm, Youth Room: Ages 6-11 meet LEGO challenges and have fun building. Registration is not required!

Youth Listening Book Club
Friday, 06/12, 06/26, 07/10, 07/24, 08/07, 1-1:45pm, Youth Room: Ages 8-11 can vote on a chapter book, then listen to it at the library this summer. Registration is not required!
Stuffy Read Aloud
Friday, 06/12, 06/26, 07/10, 07/24, 08/07, 2-4pm (half hour slots), Youth Room: Youth 4-11 can sign up for a half-hour slot to read to one of our stuffies. They are great listeners! Registration is not required!
Youth History Club
Thursday, 06/18, 07/09, 07/30, 1-1:45pm, Youth Room: Youth 5-11 learn history and make a related craft each session. Ages 5-11. Registration is not required!
Young Librarians
Thursday, 06/25, 07/16, 08/06, 1-1:45pm, Youth Room: Youth, ages 8-11, learn library skills like shelving and returning books, then practice. Registration is not required!
Youth Art Camp
Wednesdays, 5:30-7pm, Youth Room: Come to our library to participate in our arts program. The classes are for grades K-5.
