Tween/Teen Summer Reading Challenge 2022

Saturday, 06/18  through Saturday, 08/13, Beanstack and Library: Middle and high school students are welcome to sign up for our annual summer reading challenge. Students are challenged to record their reading during the summer with the goal of reading for 1,000 minutes during the summer.

We will award five prizes for every 200 minutes read and you will earn five raffle tickets to enter into the drawing of your choice after meeting the 1,000 minute goal.

If you write book reviews after each book, you can gain extra raffle tickets to enter into the drawing of your choice. You can only earn a total of five extra raffle tickets. Any reviews after the 5th are just for fun.

End of Summer Reading 2022 Community Fair

Saturday, 08/20, 12-4pm, On the Library property: Come to the Pontiac Public Library’s End of Summer Reading Celebration. We will be giving out the drawing prizes for summer reading and you must be present in order to win. There will also be food, games, and so much more. All ages!

Beginning to Sew

Wednesdays, 09/07, 09/21, 09/28, 5-6pm, Auditorium: Kids between the ages of 8 and 17 can come to the library to learn the basics of sewing from experienced instructor, Linda Herald. Participants will be learning to sew by hand. Students will take home a handmade project each time. Feel free to come to every class or drop in. Each class is a separate lesson.

College Savings Event

Saturday, 09/10, 2-3pm, Auditorium: Parents of young children are invited to join us at the Pontiac Public Library to learn about college savings programs offered by the State of Michigan. This class will help prepare parents who are interested in saving money early on to help their kids afford college.

Music Beats

Saturdays, 09/24, 10/22, 11/05, 11/19, 1-4pm, Auditorium: Come learn how to make beats, DJ, and produce music! Electronic and hip-hop music producers from the area will be on hand with different instruments and pieces of equipment for you to try. No experience necessary. All ages welcome.

Holiday Extravaganza 2022

Saturday, 12/03, 12:30-5pm, Downtown Pontiac and main floor of the library: The Pontiac Public Library partners with the 40th Holiday Extravaganza to join the holiday celebrations.

-8:30-10:30am: WinterFUN Festival Fun in Downtown Pontiac! Free activities on Saginaw Street. See us there!

-11:00am: Parade – The Library will be there too!

-1pm: Trolley ride around Pontiac, starting at the library!

Join us for after parade activities at the Pontiac Public Library:  Story time, crafts, and more!

See Santa and get a candy cane and a jolly welcome from Santa himself at about 1:30 and until the line is gone! Start time depends on how long the parade lasts and when Santa arrives back at the library.
