Thursday, 06/01, Wednesday, 07/12, 5:30-7pm, Auditorium: The Pontiac Public Library collaborates with the Art Experience Organization to offer a series of art classes.
Thursday, 06/01, 5:30-7pm: Watercolor Roses: We will explore the fun medium of watercolor painting. In celebration of spring we will learn how to paint watercolor roses. This is a very simple and relaxing way to learn something new.
Wednesday, 07/12, 5:30-7pm: Beaded Wind Chimes: Celebrate summer and spend some time making your own beaded wind chime. Using a stick, wire and beads you will create a beautiful piece that can be hung indoors or out.

Financial Guidance for Adults
Saturdays, 05/13, 08/05, 4-5pm, Auditorium: The Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union and the Pontiac Public Library present a series of workshops to help adults cope with common financial challenges and learn how to invest. The series schedule follows below:
05/13, How to Check Your Credit Report: Learn how credit scores are calculated and how to use your credit report as a financial tool.
08/05, How to Spot a Scam: Learn about common frauds and tactics used by scammers. Learn how to recognize the red flags and keep your personal information safe.

Modern Women’s Self-Defense Seminar
Saturday, 06/10, 3:30-5pm, Auditorium: Discover your inner warrior! Please join us for an informative seminar to give you techniques to protect yourself from danger. Representative of the Metro Michigan Shotokan Karate school, Andrea Moon (4th Degree Black Belt), will teach you a variety of tried and true techniques to defend yourself. Participants will work with partners as attacker and defender to learn a variety of self-defense techniques. At the completion of the seminar, you will receive a written hand-out that includes a review of all techniques covered during the seminar. With these instructions, you will be able to practice the exercises presented at the seminar. Please wear loose fitting clothing, no jewelry, hair tied back. We will work in bare feet in order to stay safe when practicing foot/leg techniques.

RJ Spangler Quartet-Jazz Concert
Saturday, 09/30, 4-5pm, Main Floor of the Library: Join us for an afternoon with live jazz music. The RJ Spangler Quartet is coming to our library once more! RJ speaks about the history of Detroit’s Jazz & Blues roots and performs musical examples with an all-star band. The performance covers different decades of Jazz music.

Heartfulness Meditation Online
Tuesdays and Thursdays (except from holidays), 6-7pm, Microsoft Teams: Join us for our returning Heartfulness Meditation program online. The Heartfulness Meditation Program offers a simple set of relaxation and meditation exercises, which when practiced daily, help restore balance in life, manage stress, better your health, and most of all will lead you to inner calm and peace. Adult Summer Reading 2023 Instructions and Rules

Instructions and Rules:
Go to pontiac.beanstack.org to register or sign-in if you already have an account. You can begin on our starting date, June 17!
The tasks you have to complete are, up to three books and up to three reviews, a total of 6 tasks. The three books must be three different books that you have not read before and not the same book three times. Each review should be about one of the books you have read. Multiple reviews for the same book will not be approved. Reviews less that 5-6 lines like “I liked this book” or “I enjoyed this book”, will not be approved. A review should mention something about the author’s writing, the plot, and the characters. Each of the 6 tasks, when completed, will give you a small prize and a ticket for the big prize raffle. The big prize raffle will take place on our Summer Reading End Celebration on 08/26!
